Psalm 34:8
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
These last 15+ months have been trying for most of us. For many, there has been great upset in their day to day activities. One of the areas affected greatly from the changes of the past season has been our education system. The Goodness Army, a ministry here at Sonrise Christian Center, has prayerfully thought about ways that we can impact our community during this past year. You may have heard or seen reports of us offering relief to the Everett Gospel Mission when they were down to only two cooks. We also helped out Horizon elementary last June as they were in need of support for their food program. We got groceries and gift cards for many families in need who were dependent on the school food programs which were canceled when in person classes were canceled. In addition to that, the Goodness Army has been looking for other ways to impact the surrounding area. In the fall the Goodness army prepared meals for the Everett Police department for which they were grateful, many of them working many more hours than normal and feeling the goodness of God through a meal. Another way that the goodness Army has reached out over the past year was in partnership with the Women’s ministry through the Gifts for Mariner Highschool, we provided 50 families with gifts and christmas dinner who may have gone without otherwise.
I wanted to open this edition of the Sonrise Blog Testimony Thursday with the history of what our Goodness Army has been up to and to bring a great report and testimony of yet another way our Sonrise Family is reaching out and blessing those around us. As I began this post, our education system has been turned upside down in the past year. On June 15th, 2021 Pastor Terry and Deacon Steve Rae and a small platoon of volunteers from our Goodness Army put together meals for all the Teachers and Admin staff at Horizon Elementary. We have received SO many good reports DIRECTLY from the teachers and staff about how blessed they were! Here are just a few that we have received:
Terry,
Thank you so much for the delicious lunch you provided us with last week. I thought about it all week and was eager to get to school on Tuesday; it really gave me something to look forward to!
In a year that has been devoid of treats, celebrations, and events to anticipate, the lunch was a wonderful way to shut the door on this year of pandemic teaching.
We appreciated it! Have a wonderful summer,
Teacher Librarian
Sending a BIG thank you for your incredible thoughtfulness today. 😊
The boxed lunches were the perfect way to end our adventures this year.
With gratefulness for your kindness.

Hello Terry, thank you for the delicious lunch! It was so kind of you to feed us today….some of us have been forgetting to eat this year. LOL Thank you for giving us the love and energy it takes to pour it into our children.
We are so expectant of all that God is going to pour out in our region, we believe that one of the ways that he is moving is through his goodness. One desire of this house is to see God’s Goodness in the land, and we are actively working on activating the body of Christ to be the hands and feet as an extension of Jesus to our community. If you missed our meeting and are wanting to get involved in what God is doing through the Goodness Army and serve our community please reachout to us and request to join:
